“Hard to see, the Dark Side is.” – Yoda, Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace
To all of my friends and readers here in the Northern Hemisphere, Happy Winter Solstice!
Padawan Learner, Dad Windu and I will be revelling in this shortest day of the year by making grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup (our favorite comfort food combo), listening to music, and cuddling up under toasty blankets. We’ll light candles and turn on the tree lights. Hopefully, the weather will clear and we’ll be able to take a walk through the neighborhood to enjoy the holiday light displays and a dark, star-filled night sky. I’m not holding my breath on the dark, star-filled night sky, though. Stupid clouds.
What does your family do to celebrate these long nights of winter?

We also have grilled cheese and tomato soup. We are still trying to get to Tokyo to see all the Christmas lights, but dangit it’s a Japanese holiday. We don’t travel on Japanese holidays.
Mom #2 either makes her delicious caldo de pollo or I make my even more delicious (if I do say so myself) chili. We like warm comfort food that can be simmered on the stove or in the crock pot for hours so by the time dinner is ready, we’re all about to lose our minds with hunger, LOL.
