Things Worth Remembering

The three habits that lead to success are: Patience, Application, and Vision.

Take care: The person who will tell others' faults to you - will tell yours to others.

It is always better to be underestimated.

There are three things that are better than riches: Health, Freedom, and Honor.

Think swiftly, speak softly, act wisely.

"The world is neither Scottish, English, nor Irish, neither French, Dutch, nor Chinese, but human, and each nation is only the partial development of a universal humanity." - James Grant on founding the National Association for the Vindication of Scottish Rights, 1862

While I can’t say that I’m a slave to my habits, I do act like it sometimes. It’s only when my routine is thrown out of whack, which happens around holidays, when traveling, having house guests and such, that I stop to think about what I’m actually doing on a day-to-day basis and why.

Two nasty, lazy habits that I’ve noticed lately and am trying to put to rest are:

  • Pulling my hair back into a ponytail every.single.day instead of taking the 90 seconds to put in some styling mousse. It’s amazing what that little extra step can mean for my curls.
  • Roaming around the house until noon in my jammies and taking a shower when Padawan Learner is off playing with the also homeschooled neighbor kids during their lunch break. It means getting up a bit earlier to shower before waking PL up, and avoiding the computer first thing in the morning, but it’s proving worthwhile.
May the Force be with us all, Share!

Until I get a shower, I don’t wake up. I looooove my shower every morning. However, most of the time I shower and then put my pajamas back on until I MUST get dressed.

    • I can’t not take a shower and get dressed in the morning… because if I don’t, I’m unable to function. When I’m in jammies, I just can’t do what I’m supposed to do. Uh… what is it I’m supposed to do again?

    • Thanks for the feed fix! I totally identify with both of these habits (although I recently cut my hair way too short for ponytails anytime soon).

    • I’m totally a member of the pj’s all day club. I’m like Ami, I’ve been known to shower and then put on more pajamas (usually clean ones).

Sometimes the joys of homeschooling can be the same as its miseries, LOL.

    • I’ve been known to go as late as 1 before a shower. My poor kiddo–I have made an effort to shower every morning this week because it dawned on me, he has to smell me. lol

I’m with you on the styling gel, too. I usually let my curls dry naturally and then throw them up in a clip. Just a dab does wonders, yet I don’t. Will work on that next week.

      =)
