Padawan Learner weighed one of the cats a couple of minutes ago, quite against her will, on the balance scale. Apparently her weight is remaining steady at just over 8 pounds.

OMK – Mom #1! I’m so glad you came by, I’ve been worrying about you from the lack of blogging and lack of commenting. I’m glad you’re just feeling lazy.
Yesterday we worked out how much an individual tub of pineapple pieces costs from our bulk buy, identified a weevil, learned that the Aztecs invented tortillas (thanks ABC tv) and set up an indoor cafe ie the kids used all the tactics they could find to NOT have to do any bookwork. The cafe was particularly hilarious because it was like some reality tv show on steroids. The kids set it up outside (55 F) which reminds me of the billboard for the latest convertible Mini “stop crying, it’s only hail”. Although the menu was very colourful, there was much grumping by one of the customers about the selection on offer. Later I could hear from the other end of the house.. “ARGH! I paid money for this and then you take it away, bring it back!!!” (Note that only play money exchanged hands). This was meet with an incredulous “yeah, right” from our waiter of the day. Followed shortly after with “when customers behave like this in cafes, they are asked to leave” (also from our waiter of the day). I was laughing so hard because they were experiencing exactly what the hospitality industry is like without leaving home!!!!
OMK – Wow, that’s an impressive amount of learning for one day. Most people don’t realize that retail and restaurant work is so thankless until they’re teenagers!
