Han Solo: “Well Princess, it looks like you managed to keep me here a while longer.”
Princess Leia: “I had nothing to do with it. General Rieekan thinks it’s dangerous for anyone to leave the system until they’ve activated the energy shield.”
Han Solo: “That’s a good story. I think you just can’t bear to let a gorgeous guy like me out of your sight.”
Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
When I was pregnant with Padawan Learner, I worked from home and went through a period of watching two TV series during the day while Dad Windu was at the office. Monday through Friday these reruns played out from beginning to end. It was great! I’d heard about Northern Exposure while in college, but had never seen an episode of it, and I was a bit hit or miss (mostly miss) on Magnum P.I. episodes. Therefore, I happily watched both of these series during this nine month baby-cooking time. It’s amazing how quickly you can work through a series when you watch five episodes a week.
I was thrilled then, as you can well imagine, to see a link about the similarity between Han Solo and Magnum P.I. in my mailbox this morning. Eileen, you rock! Think of it as Han Solo, P.I.

Lol! I remember watching all kinds of old shows – which were all reruns by the time I saw them. Magnum was one of my faves! With Moonlighting, ChiPs, and some show with 2 older married characters… investigated things… she had blond-ish short feathered hair… OHDANG – what was that one called???
It saddens me to think that my kids are not sufficiently familiar with Magnum, P.I. to make this connection. Obviously, I’m going to have to rectify this situation.
This is great! And another coincidence…Tom Selleck turned down the role of Indiana Jones that eventually went to Harrison Ford.
I happily troll the internet for you my bosom friend. You are my Starskey to my Hutch.
Very clever of them, and thanks for reminding me how much I liked Magnum P.I!
That is hysterical. *trots off to tweet about it*
sigh
I had an insatiable urge to watch rugby, Australian Rules football, and all of those cheesoid cop and forensics shows. Can’t explain it, but there it is, or that’s the way it was, or something. LOL.
I still enjoy rugby and Aussie football, but the cheesoid cop and forensics shows I can hardly bear to watch.
Lol-I seriously can’t figure out how you come up with all these quotes!
So fun though-we love Star Wars in our house too.
Scattered Mom: I’m not sure, either. Way too much free space in my brain?
