“It’s a trap!” - Admiral Ackbar, Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi
When people say “cottage” nowadays at The Lake, they often mean an obnoxiously large structure blocking everyone else’s view that could easily fit a half-dozen families with no one seeing anyone else for days unless a map and a to-the-minute time table was involved. This was not that kind of cottage. This is a real cottage. Three tiny bedrooms, a single small bathroom, an open living room/kitchen area big enough to hold a dozen bodies – just – should the rain begin to pound, a great big brick patio on the back with three swinging chairs, a large table & chair set for meals, and lots of space to move around. Seriously, you’re there for The Lake. Re.mem.ber? Best of all though, it has one of the most fabulous views for which a person could hope.

Holy cow.
I’m living in a cottage. Only without the lake.
Shoot. Give me a small hammock with that view and I’d be perfectly content. Ahhh….
My favourite ‘get away from it all people’ are the ones who go camping with huge gas powered generators which they run all evening to power their stereos and satellite tv’s. A couple years ago we had one with us at the campground in Osoyoos and I swear I was close to organizing a pogrom.
Gorgeous photo.
sigh. This looks so divine.
That is beautiful! want a new neighbor?
Ami: *giggle* I imagine many of us are.
hornblower: Ugh. I’ll grab a pitchfork and join in.
Eileen: It should look freakishly familiar to you and your cousins.
SabrinaT: Sure! We’d love to have you around here.
Europe-schmurope. Save me a seat. I’ll be right over.
That looks absolutely heavenly!!!
In the backwoods of NNY, we called that a “camp.” We used to go yearly to a camp on the shores of Lake Bonaparte. I still remember those days fondly. Now I take my kids to a different lake (Loch Ness) every year, and we do stay in a cottage. But it’s the same. And we’re making the same great memories for them. Beautiful photo!
Now that’s what I am talkin’ about. No phone, no TV, no nothing. Oh yeah…the view!
Oh…you’re making me miss da UP. (That’s Upper Michigan’s Upper Penisula to the uninitiated.)
Pure heaven. (Except for the skeeters and no see-ums)
What a lovely site.
I’ll behave myself and won’t start in on the morons with the bad ass generators that ruin the quiet for everyone…
