Luke: “Vader’s on that ship.”
Han Solo: “Now don’t get jittery, Luke. There are a lot of command ships. Keep your distance, though, Chewie, but don’t look like you’re trying to keeping your distance.” [Chewie barks a question] ”I don’t know. Fly casual.”
Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi
What a strange day. We didn’t see a single amazingly cool thing. Frankly, I’d kind of gotten used to it.
Instead we drove from 10 am until 8:30 pm (552 miles), with a short stop at a rest area for lunch and an hour at a sit-down restaurant for dinner. I even drove for 12 miles today! I haven’t driven a mile (although I have offered) since we left home.
A couple of fun things I did see today were:

Were you staying at a La Quinta? They always have those Texas shaped waffle makers.
That’s a lot of driving for one day. Mom #2 never lets me drive, either. But I don’t mind . . . I like the shotgun seat.
Your photos and descriptions make me long for the west! Oh! The wide open spaces. (Yes, with some switchbacks here and there.)
I’m glad the trips going so well. But what I want to know….didcha get any photos of the motel melee that you mentioned on FB?
Mom #1: Yes, it was. I think Texans must be some of the most proud residents in the nation. We say TX-shaped stuff and TX-flag painted things absolutely everywhere.
Theresa: Unforunately (or fortunately) the ejected families didn’t pitch a fit when they left. It was all very civilized… sigh.
So are you seriously trying to say that a Texas-shaped waffle isn’t “amazingly cool?” You’ve been traveling too long, lady!!
Thought of PL when I saw two kids at a park doing parkquin (sp?) last week.
