“Oh, I have a bad feeling about this.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith
Dad Windu and I woke to bright sunny skies again this morning. Such a nice way to wake up. After taking a shower, as he was getting dressed for work, he paused a moment and said, “Look at that…” in a low, soft voice of quiet amazement. A wall of dark clouds was stretching from one side of the window to another, pushing the bright sky of morning away in front of it. Creepy. There are some days when the only thing worth doing is sitting in the living room and watching a wall of thunderstorms roll in. This is one of those days.

We LOVE sitting on a porch watching the summer storms roll in. It’s a pity that for this house the best view only has a postage stamp sized entrance way to stand in.
Weirdest part was that within 10 minutes the entire wall of clouds was gone. It’s sunny (and humid!) again.
Oh, I remember that from when I lived on the far west side of Ann Arbor. Your post sums up those feelings so well!
Alas, one of my dogs is thunder phobic so if I smell a storm rolling in, it’s frantic search for all his calming equipment & getting him to his safe spot (the bathroom floor) before he collapses from anxiety somewhere.
These fast coming & going summer storms can really sneak up on a person (& a dog!).
This reminds me of my childhood home in the Caribbean. I grew up in a house with a living room that had an amazing view of the island, harbor, and ocean. On a good day, we could see all the way from our home on St. Thomas to the outline of St. Croix. And when storm clouds pass, you can see the rain coming down in just the one localized area, while it’s still sunny all around.
That is definitely not something that ever happens in the mountains where I live. You don’t see a storm coming until it is RIGHT on top of you!! I think KNOWING one is coming might be a little spookier, actually.
