My son is a fan of all things George Lucas, with the Star Wars series being his favorite. He’s been watching the films, reading the books and learning about the “history” of the characters and a certain galaxy from long ago and far, far away since he was just a little guy. For the record, if you haven’t seen R2-D2: Beneath the Dome, than you just don’t know Star Wars. Who knew that such a strong, brave droid could experience so much angst….
Because of this obsession interest, there were many little quotes from the movies that frequently got bandied about in our house. Many. Frequently. One of the most common was after someone made a demand for assistance (and forgetting to use the more polite, requesting, method) said, “Help me …” someone else would inevitably cut the request off with “Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” This eventually turned into Obi-Mom Kenobi being used instead when I was the recipient of the request and the expression stuck.

Love this concept. We too homeschool and have some extreme Star Wars fanboys (and girls). The use of the quotes and Star Wars wisdom is very clever and had me laughing and agreeing quite a bit. Made my day. Will be back to browse more thoroughly. Thanks.
Trina: How nice! Thanks for the comment. You just made my day.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting! We are Star Wars fans here; love the way you’ve woven into your blog.
You sound like a lovely, wonderful family.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love what I’ve read on yours so far. You’ve been added to my reading list!
Thanks for visiting. I love how you do your blog. It’s quite interesting. I have to admit I haven’t seen R2-D2:Beneath the Dome. DS has just become aware that there is a world beyond Stars 4, 5, & 6 that we are keeping him from
.
I’m glad we found your blog. Just the other evening our four-year-old requested readings from the Visual Dictionaries (for Star Wars IV, V, VI and Attack of the Clones). Methinks we’ll enjoy reading your blog.
Stopped by through Ami’s blog to read a while. I like your style. I’ll be back. (Oh, wait — wrong movie.)
Thanks for coming by my blog. Boy is a huge Star Wars fan and I will admit I got him there.
Hi Obi-mom- thanks for checking out my blog. It’s weird to send your voice out into cyber-space and get nothing back. We are like your family also, and I thoroughly agree with buying decent cookware!!! We are lucky too, we can get raw milk nearby as well as also being in a food co-op. I have celiac disease, so I make all our food from scratch (hey, what IS scratch, anyway?)

Obi-Mom,
I love your blog and all the links. We are returning our more sensible way of life, unfortunately I have not found a CSA or food co-op locally, yet. I did run a small CSA a few years ago when we had our market garden. I do miss it. However, since we are leery of ground contaminants and jet fuel spray from the airport we will be growing indoors this year. DD and I have been trying to get information together to do a community garden, perhaps working with one of the local soup kitchens. There are so many in our area that I am sure have skills that would help and in exchange they would get decent fresh produce. It is a plan in the works, but if we can get it going then I will set up a blog just for it. I think it would be awesome, now to get in touch with the correct city planners, find sponsors, location, etc.
Crazy Homeschooling Momma
Obi-mom, your knowledge of Star Wars is over the top, to be sure. But I have to say you use it wisely.
What kind of pans? We just bought an induction range a few months ago and had to ditch my last-forever calphalon aluminum pans in favor of the ridiculously expensive all-clad stainless steel pans. Induction cooking is the THING!
Here’s a link to the post inour blog with the new pans we got: http://www.ohlssons.be/?p=555
