Things Worth Remembering

The three habits that lead to success are: Patience, Application, and Vision.

It is always better to be underestimated.

There are three things that are better than riches: Health, Freedom, and Honor.

Think swiftly, speak softly, act wisely.

Goodbye, old friend.

“Goodbye, old friend. May the force be with you.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith

Well, we did it.

We gave the cats some last minute scrubbies, assured them that Princess Leia would give them tons of love and kibble while we were gone, got in the car and drove for hours and hours. After learning that Percy Jackson has a veryrough road to hoe on his quest, we finally saw the silver gleam of the Saint Louis Arch rising over the Mississippi River. Padawan Learner decided that, No, he wasn’t going to be going up in the Arch after all, so that’s still something I’m looking forward to doing at some later date.

Dad Windu found a water-logged road next to the river to draw his eye temporarily away from the Arch. He spent several minutes looking at the situation from nearly every (dry) angle. PL noticed that the submerged road included a dedicated bike lane. Not too useful at present in its underwater state, but nice to see regardless.

After a dinner of ravioli, green beans and ice cream, we watched Catch Me If You Can on cable. All in all, a nice and relaxing night after a day of driving. We’re all cozy and sleepy now, but looking forward to what tomorrow might bring. Tulsa, Oklahoma City, who knows where we’ll end up. All we know is that it will be west of where we are now.
